CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing is a transformative technology that allows researchers to edit sections of DNA with a high degree of precision. Quantitation and visualization of CRISPR homoduplexes and heteroduplex digestion products

In a recent CRISPR-Cas9 study, the LabChip GX Touch instrument was used to automate a workflow that detects the on-target genome editing events in CRISPR-Cas9-manipulated cells. The LabChip 12K DNA assay accelerated the detection of the on-target efficiency of editing events by quantitating and visualizing both intact homoduplexes and heteroduplex digestion products.

Improved size distribution analysis of input DNA and CRISPR modified products

The LabChip GX Touch system is also used to simplify other CRISPR-Cas9 applications by automating the capillary electrophoresis used to assess sample size distribution of input DNA and CRISPR modified products. In a recent article published in Nature Communications, researchers at Stanford University developed a novel STR-seq protocol to identify short tandem repeats (STRs) in genetic material. In their research, the team, led by Dr. Hanlee P. Ji, relied on the LabChip GX Touch system’s automated capillary electrophoresis capabilities to assess the sample size distribution of the input DNA and confirm the product size of the gRNAs developed to target the STRs.
